HDD

HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive. It is a device used to store, retrieve, and organize digital data in computers. It works on the principle of magnetic storage where data is written or read as the magnetic plates inside the HDD spin rapidly. An arm moves across these plates to capture or write the data, similar to how a record player works. An HDD can store vast amounts of data, ranging from smaller capacities in gigabytes (GB) to larger storage in terabytes (TB). The data stored remains intact even when the device is powered off, a property referred to as non-volatile storage. This device is commonly used in computers, servers, and other devices that require large storage capacity. However, with the advent of Solid State Drives (SSDs), which offer faster data access times, HDDs are becoming less common in some types of devices, particularly laptops and high-performance systems.
