How do the films find us?

Material delivery to our Studio

All screening copies of your festival, whether they be digital, analog, DCP or file are received at our BIG Studio Leipzig well before the start of the festival. Usually our studio starts the film checks 4-6 weeks leading up to your festival. This includes determining the workflow and scheduling deadlines together, setting everything up for success. Incoming material is processed and checked in chronological order. Here you can set priorities, for example, for film premieres.

Mail or Internet

A few years ago, many of the submitted contributions found their way to us by mail on hard drives, but the industry is quickly transitioning to digital delivery via the internet, which streamlines and simplifies the workflow. We can of course receive both: data transfers from post houses, services like Aspera Faspex or Gofilex, as well as offer you our own Fast-File-Transfer Service with an upload portal tailored to your festival. It's specifically designed for secure and fast dispatch of DCPs, and will make the file transfer process seamless.

Data Ingest

Our Theater Management System (TMS) is the central mass storage for all DCPs. During the ingest, the system performs an automated short validation of all DCPs to ensure that everything is playable. DCPs are processed so that version files are automatically combined with OV assets, ensuring incomplete VF delivery becomes a thing of the past.
All incoming data is secured in the so-called "ingest" and mirrored daily to another, separate storage. Thus, the most important data is protected with the highest possible protection against, for example, hard disk defects, environmental damage, user error, and all other unlikely events. As an additional measure, we also commonly retain all data carriers sent to us until the end of respective festivals and only initiate the return shipment afterwards.

Common problems with DCPs, such as the incorrect naming of the playlist or defective or incorrect metadata, are quickly corrected by our team without further ado.
