Film Festival München

When the stars flock to the red (or sometimes blue) carpets in Munich, the work of BIG Studio has come to its grand finale. A good six weeks before the festival, work has already begun at BIG Studio in Leipzig. All of the festival films are screened in full length in our in-house test cinema, where an extremely precise and comprehensive quality control is carried out to guarantee a smooth and perfect screening of every single DCP.

In close cooperation with the Filmfest's programme management team, the joint workflow is constantly optimized and further developed. Since 2024, MyStudio has been in use with a variety of helpful tools and has been specially adapted to Filmfest's own "FileMaker" database. This speeds up the flow of information and everyone is always up to date.

At the opening in Gasteig HP8 in 2024, the latest model 4435-RGB of the Christie 4K laser series blazed away over the heads of some 1000 prominent guests for the first time - the latest addition to our BIG cinema technology rental service.

With our specially designed mobile server room and our mobile studio technology, we have set ourselves up in the heart of Munich to be able to reach all cinemas quickly. With over 25TB of data in our luggage and various media for delivering the DCPs: from Doremi triple sets, CRU and SSD hard disks to Shuttle NAS systems that can be integrated directly into IMS3000.

A special feature of the film festival is the pre-program, which is filmed during the festival and changes every two days. This is converted into a DCP on site using the Rohde & Schwarz Clipster and then delivered by our team via download or USB stick. In this way, the admission experience remains entertaining for the audience and the festival atmosphere finds its way onto the screen.
