Feedback to the Festival
The core element of our festival service, in addition to pure logistics, is of course quality control. This step ensures that possible problems are identified and defused well in advance to the screenings.
Moreover, there are many important aspects that must be checked in advance: Language version, subtitle language, running time, audio channel assignment and sound format, image format, frame rate and subtitle format.
In our My Festival Portal, the BIG Studio Team issues feedback from film checks and sends additional emails on any important issues to your festival team.
What is checked?
After the basic prerequisites are met, the DCP is playable and all target and test data are successfully matched, the manual quality control begins. Here, the film is now either viewed in full length under cinema conditions or in random sequences for a fixed duration of time.
The trained eye of our team keeps finding errors even in supposedly polished productions. These can be, for example, individual shots that are incorrectly scaled in the cut, spelling or other errors in the subtitles, isolated black or differently colored corrupt frames, problems in the sound mix, and all sorts of other irritations.
Even if they might not all be noticed by the average cinema-goer: these things will not remain hidden from your critical professional audience. Last but not least, the proof of our excellent work is the many thank you emails from filmmakers whom we have prevented such flaws at their premiere.

Feedback to the Venue
Special instructions for the presenters at their venues are entered into the database by our team and communicated via the
schedules. In addition to the CPLs to be played, we also communicate important notes such as a delayed start of the sound, the correct blanking curtain format to be set, volume recommendations and much more, which greatly helps the presenters and ensures error-free projection.

Feedback on KDMs
Careful KDM management is essential: The KDM keys required for playback are both cinema and time-bound. That's why we have integrated a tool in
My Studio that carries out the checks fully automatically: Your team uploads the KDM and gets direct feedback on whether it matches both the CPL and the cinema projector server and screening date/time. We then deliver the appropriate KDMs along with the films to the cinemas.
The tendency to deliver DCPs encrypted only and not provide festivals with a DKDM Master Key for decryption and pre-check is continually increasing. To meet the highest demands of those who do not want to issue DKDMs, we have an exclusive solution: The pre-check of the encrypted DCPs on a DCI compliant Doremi or Dolby server in our in-house DCI cinema. To do this, a KDM must be assigned to us for our "test cinema" server within a specified period, and the film check is then carried out there under real cinema conditions.

Feedback from You
Last but not least, we are always open to your feedback: In a constant process of optimization, we always want to offer the best possible service and therefore like to adapt individually to your festival.
