Pioneer of digitalization

Back in the year 2009 when cinema digitalization was still in its infancy and various formats such as video tapes, film prints and digital copies made film logistics a challenge, we recognized the potential of the future-oriented DCP format early on and, together with the festival, completely switched to this format for distribution. Since then, the universal DCP format has not only saved costs and effort, but also raised film screenings to a consistently high level of quality.

Station cinema revitalized

For many years, the pop-up cinema we have installed in the east hall of the central train station has been part of the DOK's regular program and has been a big hit with the public. Whether they have come specially to see films or are just passing through, the low-threshold nature of the "Bahnhofskino" attracts people and works as well today as it did in the past: as early as 1950, the "Defa Zeitkino", which played short and feature films in an endless loop from dawn to dusk, was located between platforms 22 and 23 of the central station.

Home game for BIG studio

As a Leipzig festival, DOK naturally benefits from short service and working distances. Whether in the production of the many SDH-subtitled DCPs for the festival, in the delivery to the venues or in our technical support. But we can also offer this service in other cities: We’ll come to your festival with our mobile studio!
